Any interest in So Cal of having a get together?  Maybe someday I'll clean my house and you can all come over. Smiley

In the meantime, maybe we could meet sometime at Anajak Thai in Sherman Oaks?  Or maybe I'll see you at the dog park?

Mark and I have been discussing having a Southern California KIVA gathering/information booth. We figure instead of just meeting we'll meet somewhere we can also tell other people about KIVA and perhaps sell some things to raise money.  Something like a table at a flea or farmers market once a month.  Would you be interested in something like that?   Anyone else from Southern California interested?

Grin Redheads rule!  You two are real go-getters!...... and, Issa - I'm with you on the spiders.  Once a visiting friend informed me that she had noticed a big spider in the bathroom but didn't kill it, as she thought "it might be a friend of the family."  It was. Wish I lived in S. CA and could join you two.

Sounds good to me.  But I'm not much of an organizer/people mover.  I'm mainly a footsoldier in these sorts of things.

We need a KIVA Friend Souther California Organizer. I'm sorry it can't be me, but I have too much on my plate and I disappear for weeks/months at a time sometimes with my science.

I have been contacted by several people interested in meetings/events/fundraisers.  I can help organize, help set things up, and probably even attend most of the gatherings.  But someone else has to be the main contact person and do the logistics on who can meet where and when, do announcements, maintain the contact lists, etc. It doesn't take a lot of experience, just a willingness, organizational skills, time to do emails and phone calls, and time/ability to attend most of the events (which may just be 1/month).

My suggestion would be to just plan the first meeting and see who shows up and what they want to do. I am totally willing to help with this, and I even have a list of people to invite in the area.

Tag, someone else is it.

Are any of you still out there?  I work at a school, and I went on vacation, then school started. Out of the loop for too long.  Maybe I should re-start this topic? sigh...

What about meeting in a local restaurant which allows fundraisers.  Usually 10-20% of the cost of food ordered goes to the cause.  You might have to funnel it thru a 501c3 organization to meet a particular restaurant's guidelines, though.  Just a thought...I would organize if it were in the Sacramento area.

Carlsbad, CA

Hi Curtis,
How far is Carlsbad, and what would be a possible city in the LA area you could drive to for a dinner meeting? I'm in Pasadena, Marc is in Long Beach, Mike is in ??Los Feliz area I think. Where is everyone else who might come to a meeting?

Hi Julia,

Carlsbad is about half way between San Diego and Orange County and a couple hours from LA.  OC would be convenient for me- I'm up there periodically anyways.

I went to college in Pasadena (but was too busy to really learn and enjoy the area).
