As some of us "of a certain age" and metabolism like to say, "Apply directly to the hips."

sigh.

from the bottom of the Kiva Friends front page a few minutes ago..
Most Online Today: 627. Most Online Ever: 627 (Today at 12:39:03 PM)

huge number of Guests visiting Kiva Friends today, I wonder why that should be.
Has the Kiva Friends logo & link become more prominent on this page?
http://www.kiva.org/about/community/
I can't remember exactly what it looked like before, but I seem to recall it wasn't as prominent as it is now.

P

edit: the Wayback Machine shows a page for August 2007 that has "us" sharing the spotlight alongside banners for Yahoo Groups and Linked In.   Now it's just the Kiva Friends logo in that space, so yes it's become more prominent, but not sure when that happened, or whether it would on its own have the effect of pushing up visitor numbers so radically.

Another thing that might have happened, is that Kiva are rolling out that idea that was floated somewhere on here a few weeks ago, of Kiva Friends being used as a resource to alleviate some of the burden from enquiries.   Could it be that the automated acknowledgment replies to emails to Contact Us now include a link to Kiva Friends ?  that would deserve a  Shocked if true, rather than my mere speculation..

p.s. Henry, I hear there are thunderbolts forecast this afternoon for Alabama - keep your eyes peeled   Laugh

Peter...I vaguely remember other things on the page along with the Kiva Friends link...and now there is just our link...so maybe that is why we are getting so many visitors...the last record was set right after Oprah....people couldnt get on kiva.org to lend so they came here first to get acquainted with the program...I believe it was around 527 or so...I am sure Joe has all the stats stowed away somewhere.

I am off to dinner and then a restful weekend....I may even have time to spend here catching up with my Kiva friends.
