Hey all,

I really like what Kiva is doing and wanted to explore how often loans are being made.  When I found out they have public API's I decided to build something that would visually show all new loans coming in.  New loans are automatically pushed over every 30 seconds.  It is actually really cool to just sit and watch how generous people are, how loans come from and go all over the world, and how many people are lending on Kiva.

The URL is http://www.lendstream.org

I've been using this to introduce my friends to Kiva since I think it visually conveys the impact of the site--so many loans are being made all of the time.

I hope this is the right forum to post this in (I'm new here so sorry if it's not)--let me know if you have any suggestions, ways to make it better, or thoughts on how it can be used to spread the word about Kiva.

Cheers,
Matt

Yes, excellent stuff Matt.  I love the way you've included country flags with the lender and borrower photos.  I think a lot of people are going to want to keep this open in a separate browser window.  Thank you!

Glad that's useful--it certainly tested my knowledge of world flags Grin (I think it is getting better).   It's really fascinating to watch at different times throughout the day.  During my afternoon (west-coast US), many US-based lenders pop-up, but right now (when I should be asleep), it's dominated by Europe, Asia, and Oceania.

Very nice Matt.  And I am one of the people that Peter mentioned.  Since I opened it a bit ago, have kept it open and watched what loans are being funded.  Really fascinating.

there's just one minor glitch I've noticed.  Clicking on the hyperlink to a borrower takes you to Kiva's default "lend" page.  I think you need an "&" instead of the last "?" in those links?  That works for me anyway if I copy & paste the link into a browser and edit it.

cheers

Also, it makes me tempted to make a loan, just so I come up on the list...
