Hi all,

Even though already a bit more than a year on Kiva, I'm completly fresh here. I don't know if my idea was already mentioned here before, but I couldn't find it, so I thought let's see what others think about it.

In my normal lending behaviour I dont care all to much about whom I lend money. I personally believe that the Field Partners do a good job in the selection and definitly can judge better than me, only knowing the projects from a few lines.

However just recently a new Field Partner in Iraq (Al-Thiqa Organization) started, and they don't reveal any enterpreneurs names and even make white quare boxes over the people eyes to anonymize them. I personally think that if already you request money from somebody you should at least be so open minded to show yourself to those who lend, but hey that's just my personal opinion, I don't want to discuss this to big. I remember back when Kiva started with a Field Partner in the US there were also some who liked it, others didn't. It's pretty much the same thing here.

This brings me to my idea. Currently I when searching for entrepreneurs to suppose I can eigther choose all, or then a specific Gender/Section/Region. This is good for all those who want to be specific in whom they want to give money. However I can imaging that most might - just like myself - don't care to much about whom they lend money (because as mentioned the fieldpartners already do a good job here), but they may have certain criterias that they dont want. So what I am searching for is a way to filter certain entrepreneurs out, be it Section/Region/Fieldpartner or whatever else and only show all the others.

Obvoiusly this would be even more important when talking about the new auto-lending-feature.

What do you think about that?

Welcome to Kiva Friends, Frank.

Although spread out through any number of threads here over an extended time, there HAS been a lot of discussion here about Kiva providing more sophisticated sort options and portfolio tools.  Your idea is probably right in there with a number of other useful suggestions.

Regretfully, in Kiva's current business model, they seem to be putting much resource into getting new lenders as a way to grow, with the apparent feeling that existing lenders are not as rich a growth resource--or at least the ones who take their portfolio management seriously.  Maybe they think these lenders plateau out.

Watch the Kiva Friends Liaison Thread for updates, since portfolio tools is a repeat request there.

Maybe another Friend will chime in with some of the specific threads with these discussions.

This thread and application it describes might be of some interest to you.  http://www.kivafriends.org/index.php/topic,4243.0.html

If you would prefer to go straight to the Loan search application it can be found at http://www.nuclearspike.com/kiva/
