I'm just wondering whether Kiva could expand it's Supporter's page. What if firms, shops etc bought a Kiva Certificate and in return had their name displayed on a seperate page within the Supporters section. Because the loan is virtually guaranteed to be paid back, they would get free publicity (by having their website included on the Kiva website) and a good dose of PR as well. The more Certificates they bought the more prestige their status would become ie. Ranging from a Bronze Supporter, through to a Silver, Gold and eventually a Platinum Supporter. The Supporter's webpage could have a downloadable poster that could be displayed in the firm's or shop's window stating something like 'I'm a Proud Kiva Supporter'.

But how could we help in the process? Well, we could contact local firms and shops to see if they would be interested in buying free publicity for an exceedingly small price of $25. Buying free publicity, I hear you say?? As mentioned above, they have to buy the Certificate in the first place but they're virtually guaranteed to get their money back at the end. Inform them that there over 70,000 members of Kiva and for $25, that's not a bad price to pay for the potential of 70,000 seperate pairs of eyes.

The main thrust of this idea is to create a 'prestige league' of supporters. Using the hook of free publicity as being one of the main pitches to sell the idea, we could encourage firms and shops to support fellow entrepreneurs elsewhere in the world. One more firm or shop signed up means one more potential chance for an entrepreneur to succeed in life.

Hey Mike, Im surprised no one replied to this idea, I think its great.  It might be slow going at first, but as something gets bigger and more popular and more widespread, its only inevitable that more and more people and companies would want to be associated with it in some way.  Right now Kiva relies so much on other outlets for its exposure, but it will be nice when Kiva gets big enough where others would gladly rely on Kiva for some exposure.  Kiva might be funny about promoting other companies for their loan contributions, they might have their own reasons for not getting into that, but who knows.  Throw it in the suggestion box, its always worth a shot.

I find not direction in the readings of those with whom my eccentricities are similar, but rather validation.

My only solace is that I find a peaceful place where I might be resigned to my depriving loneliness.

Thanks for your kind words of my idea. Regarding your Suggestion Box suggestion - well I didn't even know there was a category called this until I read your reply. Maybe some kind soul who moderates this board could move this thread to that category - I know they can because somebody did it to one of my posts recently about bequeathing Kiva certificates in wills.
