I also wanted to mention a loan that one of my team members pointed out, yesterday, that I thought was especially wonderful and happily reminiscent of Kiva’s “ salad days.”[/size] http://www.kiva.org/lend/382740Thanks, Carolyn.I sent that link to everyone in my folk band, which has several accordion players. One sent it to his brother-in-law, who was in Peru in the foreign service many years ago.

Just sent a new friend a link to a post here and found myself starting at the beginning of Best Smiles and leafing through it, page by page, as though I were her, and seeing it for the first time. Hadn’t done that for EVER.
If you’ve never done it, or, if, like me, you haven’t done it for quite awhile, I’m writing to encourage you to take the time, sometime in the next week or two or three.
I’m only not even quite halfway through it, at this point, myself, but it really is (nearly) pure unadulterated pleasure. Give yourselves the gift of it.
It’s a smile!
(Actually, it’s a whole whole whole LOT of smiles).

Hawah Iddrisu (Ghana) Hawah is a petty trader. She sells panties and groceries in Adum Banso near Takoradi. Hawah has been in this business for two years now. She is married to a mason and has one child. Hawah uses her income to help her husband to pay their accommodation bill. She will use her loan to purchase panties and a variety of groceries to sell. With the new profit, she will expand her business. http://www.kiva.org/lend/386261

The mind boggles!

Yes I found it somewhat interesting combination of wares for sale too. Can't say that the photo depicts selling anything but groceries but Hawah's smile is certainly sincere

Edith is 30 years old. She is married, and her husband works in construction. She has four children aged 9, 7, 5, and 3 years old. She lives in Honduras. For two years, Edith has had her own business making corn tortillas, and she is using her Kiva loan to stock up on corn flour, firewood, and other supplies. http://www.kiva.org/lend/388737
