If I remember correctly, I heard about Kiva on NPR, around June-July 2007.

I first heard (read) about Kiva in the fall of 2006 while researching various aspects of microenterprise on the internet. Our daughter was getting her masters and was intrigued with its development as a way to help alleviate poverty. We were learning along with her.

A colleague mentioned it to me. Then a few months later another colleague mentioned it. Then a third.

A BBC documentary in June 2007. Joined but didn't lend until October. Should have waited a bit longer, and avoided MIFEX!!!

I heard about Kiva, Christmas evening 2007, while watching a PBS program titled "Frontline World"; and began loaning three days after on December 27, 2007. Little did I know that this would be the start of my upward spiral into Kiva addiction!

They recommended lending via Kiva to soothe your guilty conscience (and not to download pirated music again).

From a woman in the office in April 2007. (I see my anniversary is coming up, as I made my first loan on April 11 that year.) We were part of the company's community outreach committee. Later that year, the company set up a Kiva membership and put in $5k to make loans; that money's still there, still working.
