A new loan for this month? And I apologize profusely for not acting earlier but I'm going on a holiday and there's so much to finish before that time... !

I excluded loans from Peru or Bolivia (because we already have a loan from these countries) and that leaves me with these five loans that will expire within 22 days...

Two from Cambodia:
http://www.kiva.org/lend/205763?app_id=org.kivabank
http://www.kiva.org/lend/205351?app_id=org.kivabank

And three from Ecuador:
http://www.kiva.org/lend/201581?app_id=org.kivabank
http://www.kiva.org/lend/201537?app_id=org.kivabank
http://www.kiva.org/lend/202624?app_id=org.kivabank

No currency exchange loss risk with any of them...

What do you think?

Petra - they all are fine loans , but my vote goes to www.kiva.org/lend/201537 - Quingeo (cuenca) Group - can't resist the ladies in hats (plus I like the rather interesting range of use(s) - vegetables and hair accessories)

Enjoy your holiday!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our holiday in Norway very much. Here are some pictures...

That's me, yes! Sitting on top of this rock, enjoying our lunch. Norway's very expensive, so lunch was often: bread and cheese...

Towards the Geirangerfjord.

The Geirangerfjord with some "small" cruise ships...

Another fjord.

A glacier

I hope you enjoyed the pictures!! We enjoyed our holiday very much.

Thank you all for making group loans; there's a steady trickle of group loans attributed to this team. I ran out of money already and have to wait for the 15th...  Laugh   One day I'll learn how to spread my money to make it last, I promise...

Some more cool statistics:
173 loans were made (dear me!) by our 18 members, since the start of our team, now about 3 months ago.
We currently rank 617th of all teams when it comes to total number of loans made.

I'm thinking about giving away a gift certificate when we reach the 250th loan of our team. Perhaps have a nice contest?
I hope I have some days left to think about this...

There are still only 92 votes to support winning $ 20 000 for use on Kiva loans http://www.kiva.org/team/poverty2prosperity

Poverty2Prosperity (P2P) is a San Francisco Bay Area CA-based 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Microfinance organization engaged in the goal of alleviating and breaking the cycle of poverty through micro-loans and other poverty-escaping projects. P2P is focused on providing micro-loans to developing world entrepreneurs who would otherwise not have access to working capital from traditional banks and credit institutions. By providing a 'help out' rather than a 'hand out,' micro-loans form the basis of a renewable source of economic stimulus; once the micro-loan is paid back, it can be re-loaned to another deserving entrepreneur. P2P utilizes the lending technology platform provided by Kiva.org. Kiva works in the field directly with local countries' Micro-Finance Institutions (MFIs) and has developed a ranking system to identify sound MFIs who are enabled to present qualified borrowers (entrepreneurs) to potential lenders. Kiva then aggregates lenders to fill these micro-loans.

So... The 15th is coming up. So far we have made group loans to Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. I'm curious as to how they are doing; but we'll get information about that tomorrow.

Now, what about a new group loan as a team?

I'll come back to it, later today. The RSS feed currently gives no suggestions for loans; I guess the criteria are too strict.

If I exclude the countries we've already lent to, and take away the "exclude exchange risk" criterion, I end up with more loans, to countries like the Philippines, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.  Now there are too many of them, so I'll select the ones who still need the most money.
