I thought I would start a thread for the 2011 calendar.  I know that we are still in the first half of this year's calendar, but it is getting time to start putting the calendar together for next year!

We have a quotes thread going.  We need to know rules for pictures, and get a set of pictures going.  Maybe we can discuss any changes desired to the calendar that people wish to make from 2010?

Here is hoping for a smooth process this year.

The resolution of the photo on this loan from Honduras is probably too low for the calendar, but I do find it appealing. The original appears to be only 640 by 480, unless a higher resolution version can be obtained from the FP. I expect permission needs to be obtained from the entrepreneur and FP anyway?

I just want to clarify how pictures will be selected for the calendar.  I will get a list of approved photos that have the required release forms filed.  When I get these they will then be put out for voting for the kiva friends community.  I wish it was as easy as finding the photos we like best from all loans posted, but unfortunately it is not.  Will keep everyone posted on updates concerning the calendar.  It should be coming soon.

Thanks for this info, Charmaine. As Colette said, we need to know the rules.

Any word on when Kiva might be sending the approved photos for the next calendar?

This current year's calendar is hanging in businesses all over town and continues to get comments and questions about Kiva.  I was just down to a whale watch tour operator and there was the Kiva calendar on the wall right behind the counter.

Dan,

Charmaine said just yesterday that she would contact John of Kiva about the calendar.  We will see if John has the secret password to unlock the mysterious, ever-changing process of the calendars!

Hey everyone.  Just wanted to give you an update.  I now have a contact at kiva for the calendar.  The kivafellows have been notified and ask about pictures that have not been turned in yet that have the appropriate release forms.  The deadline for Eric to have these is the 27th of August.  I so far have two new groups so that leaves 11 more that we will hope to get...
I will now get in contact with Christopher and Chris and go from here.  We will be needing some editing help as well as the fun voting.  So stay tuned.

A quick update for everyone, since it doesn't look like I am going to get photos posted today.  I have photos from Kenya, Liberia, Ecuador, Cambodia, Phillipines, Samoa and Chile.  I am waiting for Rwanda and hoping a few more will come through.  The photos we have are really of a very high quality.  There will not be a lot of voting to be done, but there will be some.  We have one or 2 photos from each country and if we do not receive anymore will be using a most of what we have.  But even with not voting for every country I want to get the photos up for everyone to see.  It probably will not happen today but hopefully tomorrow.

There are 6 polls up to vote in now for the  2011 calendar photos. I am waiting for a few more, but these first polls will run through September 13th, you can find each of the countries listed in the "stickies" section here

Coming soon will be voting for a few more countries plus voting for quotes for the calendar.
