I love challenges. How about you?
Maybe you have read already about the wonderful work the
Fistula Foundation is doing. If not, you can either read
here more or you can also watch this really touching video - A walk to beautiful.
I have set up a link that provides free donations for the Fistula Foundation. Each time someone clicks on the following link, 1 cent will be donated to the Foundation by a company that has put advertisement banners on the page. One click per person (or ID to be more precise) and day will be counted.
http://tinyurl.com/fight-fistula In addition, if one registers on the page, it is possible to earn even more money for this good cause by registering, and e.g. just logging in regularly, staying online a while and playing some games. By this, up to 40 additional cents can be earned a day.
And now comes the challenge part.
After my first wish for 20 € got funded in record time, I thought it was time to get a bit more ambitious.
The link I have set up today is for a donation of 400 €. This is the equivalent in Euros for one complete operation including a dress for the woman and a bus ticket to go home.
And now comes the real challenge.
Charmaine and I are both regular sponsors for the Fistula Foundation. Its German branch has given us the amazing opportunity to fly to Ethiopia at the end of September and attend the official opening of their new center in Metu and also the first graduation ceremony for the Hamlin College of Midwives. And so we booked our flights yesterday!
Therefore, it would be really great if we could reach the funding goal of 400 € before we get on the plane on the morning of the 25th September! I know it is not an easy goal, but together we can make it! And we promise to bring you back loads of amazing photos and great stories.
So how can you help? 1. Join the Kiva lender team
Fight Fistulas to stay tuned.
2. Try to remember to click once a day on the click link I have set up and spread the word about it:
http://tinyurl.com/fight-fistula . To remember it easier, make the site the homepage of your browser, set up a daily reminder in Outlook or just bookmark it. 100 clicks per day get counted altogether, so it would be perfect if we could find 100 people on average who would be willing to do so! And you are not alone! Our facebook friends and family as well as some others are helping, too!
3. If you have a bit more time to spare per day, send me a PM with your email address. I will forward you a manual that explains step by step how to register on the page and how to earn some extra credits. Even if you have only some seconds left a day there are some things you could do. And every cent helps!
The manual is unfortunately necessary as the page is only available in German. But as some wonderful friends from Norway, Canada, the USA and the Netherlands have proven, it can be done with the help of the manual. And it looks like they are also having fun by doing so!
Things get even easier if you are a Chrome user, or if you have google toolbar installed in Firefox (and I think IE) google will automatically translate much of the German to English, which makes it easier to get around.
And now - let the games begin!!!
