I love challenges. How about you?   Grin

Maybe you have read already about the wonderful work the Fistula Foundation is doing. If not, you can either read here more or you can also watch this really touching video - A walk to beautiful.

I have set up a link that provides free donations for the Fistula Foundation. Each time someone clicks on the following link, 1 cent will be donated to the Foundation by a company that has put advertisement banners on the page. One click per person (or ID to be more precise) and day will be counted.

http://tinyurl.com/fight-fistula

In addition, if one registers on the page, it is possible to earn even more money for this good cause by registering, and e.g. just logging in regularly, staying online a while and playing some games. By this, up to 40 additional cents can be earned a day.  Thumbs Up

And now comes the challenge part.  Smiley After my first wish for 20 € got funded in record time, I thought it was time to get a bit more ambitious.  Cheesy The link I have set up today is for a donation of 400 €. This is the equivalent in Euros for one complete operation including a dress for the woman and a bus ticket to go home.

And now comes the real challenge. Smiley Charmaine and I are both regular sponsors for the Fistula Foundation. Its German branch has given us the amazing opportunity to fly to Ethiopia at the end of September and attend the official opening of their new center in Metu and also the first graduation ceremony for the Hamlin College of Midwives. And so we booked our flights yesterday! Yahoo!

Therefore, it would be really great if we could reach the funding goal of 400 € before we get on the plane on the morning of the 25th September! I know it is not an easy goal, but together we can make it! And we promise to bring you back loads of amazing photos and great stories.  Cheesy

So how can you help?

1. Join the Kiva lender team Fight Fistulas to stay tuned.  Peace

2. Try to remember to click once a day on the click link I have set up and spread the word about it:
http://tinyurl.com/fight-fistula. To remember it easier, make the site the homepage of your browser, set up a daily reminder in Outlook or just bookmark it. 100 clicks per day get counted altogether, so it would be perfect if we could find 100 people on average who would be willing to do so! And you are not alone! Our facebook friends and family as well as some others are helping, too!

3. If you have a bit more time to spare per day, send me a PM with your email address. I will forward you a manual that explains step by step how to register on the page and how to earn some extra credits. Even if you have only some seconds left a day there are some things you could do. And every cent helps!  Thumbs Up

The manual is unfortunately necessary as the page is only available in German. But as some wonderful friends from Norway, Canada, the USA and the Netherlands have proven, it can be done with the help of the manual. And it looks like they are also having fun by doing so! Smiley Things get even easier if you are a Chrome user, or if you have google toolbar installed in Firefox (and I think IE) google will automatically translate much of the German to English, which makes it easier to get around.

And now - let the games begin!!!  Confetti

After a very short night  Smiley here comes now the first progress report. (And Jan, YOU all are amazing for being ready to get on this adventure with me!   Laugh).

We have raise already the first 1.23 €. Wohoo!!! Not bad for less than 12 hours!  Thumbs Up

Unfortunately dshini does not have the facebook tool to suggest friends to others. As our number is growing fast, here is a short list of Kivafriends who are already on the page so you can make friends with them also there after you have registered yourself (How to do both is also explained in our manual. Send me a PM if you want to learn more):

Ramona (Mona): http://www.dshini.net/de/user/show/nick/ramonal
Charmaine (cjp1973): http://www.dshini.net/de/user/show/nick/cpettersen
Jan (Jan & John): http://www.dshini.net/de/user/show/nick/janbacon
John (Jan & John): http://www.dshini.net/de/user/show/nick/johnbacon
Tatiana (Tatiana): http://www.dshini.net/de/user/show/nick/tatiana
David (David2051): http://www.dshini.net/de/user/show/nick/david2051
Jane Sladen (Jane Sladen): http://www.dshini.net/de/user/show/nick/jsladen
Mary (Perranhart ): http://www.dshini.net/de/user/show/nick/perranhart

Hope I did not forget anyone? If so, just let me know!

I am really really grateful for everyone of you who has taken the time and effort so far to help with our cause. And I know of course that not all of you has time enough to help out regularly. But as Lao Tzu - and Tatiana - have said: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step...". And an operation to change a young woman's life and give her back her dignity starts with the first cent.  Friends

Love,
Mona

Even if you do nothing more than click once a day a step will be taken towards changing the life of one person.  For more inspiration watch this audio slide show From Despair to Dignity  It is 5 minutes long and really worth it.

Thanks to all who have joined and clicked and those of you who may start clicking today!

Of course we would still be very glad to see more people joining us. It is not only for a good cause, but also fun.  Cheesy
If you want to know more, just send me a PM with your email address so I can give you more details on how you can help.

Donation amount so far: 6.68 €   Confetti

If you don't have time enough to join us on playing, we would also really appreciate more daily clicks on our click link: http://tinyurl.com/fight-fistula. So far I get about 30 clicks per day on average. This is already a very good number and I am really grateful for everyone who clicks.  On the other hand this means unfortunately that still 70 cents per day go unused and so I would love if we could enhance this number a bit! So please tell your friends, post on facebook or whatever PR channels you have available.

Thanks! Thumbs Up

For those of you who want to help spread the word about our click link, here are some different version you could add e.g. to websites, blogs or online communities. To see the html text behind and copy it "quote" this post. Unfortunately I did not find a way to change the text of the images to English, but if you add an explanation like "1 click per person and day on this link means 1 additional cent for the Fistula Foundation" it should hopefully be enough to make people click.  Smiley

Oh, wow, that would be great! I had thought only the owners of dshini themselves could do it. But so it is of course much better!  Party

For English "Help the Fistula Foundation once a day with just a click!" would be nice. If you can change also "Klick mich" it could read "Click here".

Dutch (translated now by Tatiana): "Help The Fistula Foundation met slechts één klikje per dag." or "Help The Fistula Foundation door één keer per dag hier te klikken."

Spanish you know better than I. Smiley

Thank you so much, this is wonderful!  Thumbs Up
