I've been enjoying Vanguard's documentaries lately (especially the ones in later seasons, which tend to be much better than the earlier seasons).

I thought this one on soccer and poverty was pretty powerful:

I was especially moved to learn about "Right To Dream" , a soccer/school that taps kids' love of soccer and makes sure to tie it into an education:

The Right To Dream section is around 35 minutes into the documentary...  it sounds amazing.  I'm going to do some more research and if it's as good as it sounds, then I plan to make a contribution.

The documentary is on Hulu, so I think you have to be in the US to see it - sorry about that!

Right, John, in Canada I can't get that video...

but interestingly, Soccer seems to be on the minds of many these days, and some wonderful good is being done around the world.

Betty posted this blog today on what gives 365 ... called This Ball Can Stop Aids.

this video was filmed in Zimbabwe and gives...

A brief overview of Grassroot Soccer - an organization that uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize communities to stop the spread of HIV. By 2014, GRS aims to provide 1 million youth with the knowledge, life skills, and support to live HIV-free.

I find it so refreshing to look at the success stories, rather than being always buried in the sad stories.
