Thank you very much guys!!! P.S. John, do you get paid a bonus for every good thing the lenders say about you? At this rate you could get very rich, very fast. In all honesty, sometimes a single positive comment can transform my entire day! I am motivated by serving the lender community, so I truly appreciate the kind words.

Hi All,
I'd like to respond to the concern that we "wiped out" or "disappeared" old transactions. It was something that we considered carefully as we went through our auditing process. RichardF was correct to call out the importance of accurate transaction records as the backbone of our loan system. We agree.
I want to clarify that we did not erase this data. Although it was removed from view in user's transaction history, it is still available in our system. We didn't archive it out to some file cabinet somewhere. The old transactions are right there in our database should they ever be needed for analysis, auditing, or customer service purposes.
In some cases, we felt replacing a corrupted transaction with a correct one was the safest course of action. I certainly understand the possible confusion when an old transaction is no longer visible in your account. However, we ultimately based our decisions primarily on the accuracy and referential integrity of the data.
Hope this helps, Jonathan

Jonathan, thanks for the reply! However, I'm still confused by your choice of action, of course... Can you explain in a little more detail why Kiva chose replacing viewable transactions, rather than simply adding a "correction/adjustment" transaction?

Or running through a reversing transaction dated 6/28 for each transaction in the same amount as the ones you "disappeared".
Dan
EDIT: That is what I will be doing in my own transaction spreadsheet to see how the whole thing balances out.

Any chance that I could get a list of the transaction types, and their meanings, so that I can get the Summary spreadsheet working again?
Edit: Oh, and while I think of it, can I also get details of the syntax used in descriptions so that the borrower id can be determined.
Gerard &/- John, Any chance that I could get a list of the transaction types, and their meanings, so that I can get the Summary spreadsheet working again? And details of the syntax used in the descriptions so that I can determine which borrower the transaction is applicable to? Regards, Ian

- if we add up the prices of all the transactions, it should equal the stored balance. - ie, sum(transactions)=stored balance Hope this helps, Jonathan
Is this where we are getting that strange word "prices" in our lending portfolio, or is Jonathan just using the verbiage he picked up from others at Kiva? Dan

Dan - I'll loop in with him on this one. Please let me know if you see any verbiage on the site that refers to prices or purchases, and I can file an immediate report right away! Hello Ian! John @ Kiva
Ian - Jonathan pulled together a list of the transaction types and send it to me to review! I'll PM it to you tonight. :-)

Well, the obvious one is the column in my transactions aka "My Credits" where the amount of the transaction is labeled "Price" instead of something logical like "amount".
It also had been on some versions of the checkout process, but who knows what the "standard" screens are currently.
