...looking for potential loan recipients with a connection...

The recent request about looking for recipients with connections to music got me thinking, as I also have an interest in loaning to certain sectors / interests and find searching a little laborious (- I am of the "now" generation and want the specific items delivered to me now  Grin).

So I built a Yahoo Pipe which searches the description field in the RSS feed for a keyword that the user can specify eg music, pig, rice, etc...

The results can also be retrieved in an RSS feed, and so whenever a loan is requested that meets my specification it appears on my desktop feed reader...

If this is of use to you please use it - I have made it publicly available on Yahoo Pipes.

All pipes based on Kiva info can also be found here - I particularly like the location map.

Christopher....I played with your pipe... Tongue err... i mean I went to yahoo and piped... Huh?  This was my first pipeing experience. Are Pipes used to gather data from various websites?  Can that data then be downloaded into MSAccess? or similar?

All interested in Pipes now.  Smiley

Yahoo describe their pipes as: an interactive data aggregator and manipulator that lets you mashup your favorite online data sources.

The original data can be in various formats, from CSV and various XML feeds, to Google Base and Flickr.  It can them be modified or manipulated using data from the original source or mashed up with data from another source.

The output is then available as RSS or JSON - either of which you could then capture in a database if you so desired.

Have fun piping - the possibilities are endless, it is a very powerful way of manipulating data.
