Once upon a time, when you completed your loan checkout, there was a pop-up asking if you wished to post it to Facebook. Then there was the Kiva app on Facebook that updated your loan activity to your page. Now, under the Facebook settings, it tells you that this feature is no longer available and that now "most sites allow you to publish directly from their site".
The problem is, Kiva.org hasn't had the "publish to Facebook" link for a while now. Is there any other option available? I want to be able to promote Kiva loans to my friends so they might join, but I don't want to do it by clicking the "like" button because it shows it to non-friends as well as publishes to Kiva's front page.

You can either use the Facebook symbol on the loan page itself to post it, or on the thank you page after you have checked out on the left side of the page it shows the loan, I believe only one of them, if you have made multiple loans, and a Facebook bar next to it. You don't get the pop up window anymore but you do have a couple of options.

You can either use the Facebook symbol on the loan page itself to post it, or on the thank you page after you have checked out on the left side of the page it shows the loan, I have tried clicking on the facebook symbol and it has only taken me to Kiva's facebook page. Clicking the facebook link on the loan's page as well as posting the link on your own facebook page will show it in your newsfeed, but alsp posts it publicly on Kiva.org's front page and for privacy issues I don't want to do that. |

I see your point about posting from the loan page and then having it on the kiva.org home page. I just posted twice from the "Share on Facebook" button on the Thank you page after checkout and they do not show up on the homepage. A pop up appears and says it is posted via Kiva. I am not sure why you are getting sent to the kiva facebook page.

Me neither, but I will make another loan upon receiving my next credit and try again. Maybe I am missing something. You're not alone! I've made two loans in the past month or so and have not been able to publish to FB. When I did click the one facebook button that I did see, it only sent me to Kiva's page. Not sure why this is happening, but i have the same issue. |

I happened to see this today, and paradoxically thought of you, Joan...  "David, you're sounding like an old dude!" Matt Flannery, who runs social-lending website Kiva, couldn't understand when I explained that, no, I wouldn't be keeping in touch with him via Facebook. "What are you worried about?" he teased in a break at the PINC conference in Holland. "Only old guys get worked up about privacy." That's the start of a very interesting column by David Rowan, Editor of Wired Magazine, reprinted in Wired from his September piece in GQ. - Six reasons I'm avoiding FacebookProbably (and I know he was teasing and being flippant and not saying anything about Kiva's privacy policies) he meant people like me, an actual old guy © ... I think I've got my FB privacy hatches pretty battened down using the /account/privacy settings controls, but who knows. I find it difficult to keep up with all this social media stuff, where everything and everyone's name starts with @, and the "mayor" of London can be someone other than the actual Mayor of London. I mean, why does every @starbucks have to have a mayor? Sheesh... cheers @Peter |

Hey guys. I dug into this a bit, and it looks like Facebook changed something in their code that broke this feature. We're making some changes now to adjust to Facebook's new code... will keep you posted!

And thanks John, for checking into it. I definitely do not get any kind of link that offers to post the loan to facebook anymore - just the ones at the bottom of the page after check out that says "follow kiva on:" then gives links to facebook, twitter, etc. I use Mozilla Firefox, though, and was wondering if that was the problem...

I also do not have a pop-up window any longer but have a button in the middle of the page after checking out that reads "Post to facebook" (or similar). And it works well as far as I can say without having had to change any settings.

Personally I've not found the Facebook popup annoying, maybe I've become immune to popup in general  However I've started using this "post to Facebook" button, and it has been to Kiva's benefit, with a few inquires from friends and one friend joining and lending. |

Are you signed in to Facebook when you make a loan? Here is what I see, in the upper left quadrant of the screen on the confirmation page after checking out:  I don't use the "Share on Facebook" option, but it's presented to me after each checkout. (I am using Chrome as my browser.) --Diane. |

Joan, I see the same as Diane, and like Ramona I'm on Firefox... it's only on the "Thank You" page after you have paid for your loan. ... after you click you get the window that we used to get automatically, now we have a choice  -jan- |

How strange - I definitely don't see that on the Thank You page, and yes I am logged on to facebook (does it have to be open in another browser?)
Well, maybe it will get fixed with that script correction John mentioned... it's just weird that it's not consistent.
