Mr. Higinio is 58 years old, and is married to Mrs. Lina.  She is a housewife while Mr. Higinio is a taxi driver and retired from IPS (Social Security Institute).  He began working as a taxi driver in 2006 in the Mcal Estigarribia c/ Ingavi Route.

At present, Mr. Higinio has another vehicle besides the taxi; he needs the loan to make repairs to the second vehicle and use it as a taxi as well.

Mr. Higinio’s biggest dream is to be able to finish building his modest home as well as being able to cover the costs of his youngest son’s education.

[Higinio may be a person who provides employment in his community -- the second taxi may be for renting out to another driver to use.  But I chose to post the loan here, on account of his aspiration to pay for his son's education.  Hopefully, he has a pension from his government job in addition to earnings from his taxis, that will allow him to realize his goals.]

Sukhbaatar is 58 years old and lives with his wife, son and daughter in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. His family lives in a small house in the outer ger districts of the city. His son works at a local trade center and his daughter attends public school. Sukhbaatar is a professional driver, having worked at a local auto company from 1975 to 1997.

Sukhbaatar has been supporting his family by operating a taxi business for the past thirteen years. In 1998, he started his business using an old Russian car called a Moskvich. During the past thirteen years, he has been able to gradually improve his living conditions and has gained a lot of experience. He is planning to sell his old car and purchase another secondhand car, due to safety regulations for transportation. He is requesting a 3,000,000 MNT loan to purchase the car. His goal is to improve his daughter’s education by paying her education costs.

"39 year-old Linner [...] is married and has three children aged 15, 13 and 7. Her two eldest are in high school and her youngest is in elementary school. Her husband is a driver. Linner is in her eighth semester of a degree in medicine at the Universidad Técnica de Manabí"

I have no Kiva money left this month and swore blind I wasn't going to put any more new money in.  But, pray tell me, how could I not loan to Linner?  What a lady!  She's 39 years old, has three kids, and is pursuing a degree in medicine.  I bow down at her feet in total respect!

Here's a cool loan story from Colombia:

Jairo visited us and told us that he is very happy because his daughter Jaisa is about to start her third semester at university and this is thanks to Kiva lenders who have supported him with this his third Kiva loan. They will almost certainly help him until his daughter becomes a successful professional. Jairo says that his daughter is an excellent student and deserves all the effort that her family is making to ensure she has successful future. He says that the Kiva loan is a reward for people who have been working with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo for some time and that this is very good.

Rocio, 19, lives with her parents and her 3 younger siblings, whom she supports, in a rented home located in the city of Huancayo [Peru]. In spite of her young age, she is accomplishing a lot. She is studying for an accounting degree in a distinguished institute, and thanks to this she is now working in a well-known firm, doing word processing for the business. She does this in the mornings, because in the afternoons she studies. Now that it is the school vacation she is working in her business buying and selling sheep, which she cares for in Huari, where she has her own home. There she sells the sheep for a better price than what she paid for them. In addition, she supports her mother with her cultivations of potatoes, oca (a South American tuber), nashua and beans, by purchasing fertilizers and advising her on these purchases. Her main goal is to finish her university degree, and so to do this she works tirelessly, as the monthly household expenses are high and she has to pay them.

Upon receiving your support, Rocio will invest the money requested in the purchase of a number of sheep for her business.

A young woman from Peru is studying industrial engineering at university, plus she works for a monthly salary at a state-owned company, AND works in the family laundry business with her mother and sister. She is in her last year of studying for her engineering degree. She will use her current loan to buy shelves and other materials to remodel the laundry workspace.

SET TO EXPIRE IN 3 DAYS:

This borrower is in his late 20's, single, and lives in farm country in Peru.  He has worked in many jobs. First, he worked on farms, then as a waiter in a restaurant, and after that he worked in a factory. All this time he was saving money little by little, in order to start his business and, above all, to continue studying. He is currently studying law at the university.

He sells dishware (plates, pans, cups, and other items) and cleaning supplies. He has been doing this for five years. Each day he works in his business for around 9 hours.  He is very happy and grateful for the help that Kiva lenders bring, since with this support he will be able to buy water containers. His customers have made many requests to him, and with this loan he will better be able to meet his customers’ needs and have more merchandise to offer. This will enable him to save money in order to fulfill his greatest dream: “to finish my studies and to have a bigger business.”
