I see there is now a new section at the top of the loan list pages headed "Featured Loans" with three categories of loans. (When I just looked the three showing were Group Loans, Housing Loans and Agricultural Loans.)

It would be interesting to know how dynamic these are, how they're selected, and whether we might hope for "Red Loans" (or "Loans in danger of expiring") as a category of featured loans. The latter would go a long way to ending expiry of loans.

Alan, that's a brilliant idea!  I will share it throughout Kiva... genius!!!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to give you a little bit of background on one of the reasons we decided to create the featured loans boxes. We’ll be launching green loans on Friday for Earth Day, and you'll see "Green" as one of the featured categories in the boxes.

You all know that we have had green loans posted infrequently on Kiva in the past. We originally piloted green loans on Kiva by adding “green” to the sector classification we already had, but the green loans we listed always overlapped with other sectors. For example, if a borrower wanted to purchase a solar lamp to extend business hours of his shop that might fall under both “Green” and “Retail” sectors.

We’re focusing on expanding our green loan offerings, and we’re encouraging our Field Partners to post more green loans. You’ll notice three promo boxes at the top of the Lend tab today, and you’ll see a new search characteristic on the Lend tab – Attributes. Starting on Friday, you’ll see green loans on the website listed under Attribute, and when you search for green loans, you will be able to search by Attribute and by Sector.

If you have any questions about this launch, please let me know!

P.S. In case any of you are on Twitter, I just started tweeting for Kiva customer service. Follow me @AliAtKiva! Smiley
