Wow.  We always start the calendar in the summer months, and it is almost here!  This is the place to discuss what is possible, Kiva's guidelines, features, time lines, deadlines, ordering information, suggestions and so on. This calendar is made by volunteers to celebrate all things Kiva.

This is also a place to read about areas to volunteer!!!!!!

Who is in charge and what needs to be done?

I think this is the largest group loan I've seen.
The Banc Villageois of the church of Ndiongolor was created on October 14, 2010. It is composed of 50 women from the same village who are all engaged in similar type of work.

Not quite a record breaker, but one of the largest groups we've seen, with 45 members. (Hekima

This one we must have!

We will have to see what Kiva has in the available lists of pictures.  The last few years Kiva has required photo release from the people in the pictures we used.  I will send John from Kiva a request to find out the situation this year.

Hello all!  Our general rule for using borrower images (in media and basically in any context outside of the website or the API) is that there needs to be a signed release from the borrowers.  We made sure to get signed releases for all the picture in our image gallery!

I'm not so familiar with how you guys managed this issue in years past... did you pull entrepreneur pictures from the image gallery?

The last few goes around, Charmaine (cjp1973) has worked very hard with Fiona Ramsey (Kiva Public Relations Director) to identify pictures with the appropriate permissions / releases.  These have then been loaded into polls for everyone to vote.

Chris at KivaStore (Chris) has bankrolled the operation.

I (Christopher) have done the layout / design bit - since the last calendar the site has gone through a major redesign so it might well be time for a refresh for the calendar.  I am more than happy to help out again, or if someone wishes to take up the baton (InDesign) I am more than happy to stand aside.

Many others have also helped with finding quotes, voting etc - and thanks to everyone else who has contributed over the years.  If anyone is willing to help out please post here and volunteer...

I am swamped with a few things going on here at the moment, but I will give you just a bit of info I have.

Eric (Fellow Coordinator) I think that is his title, has been working with the fellows and Class 14 had a couple of fellows getting photos and releases, subsequent classes will also have a handful of fellows doing this as well.  As I get groups of these photos we will be getting them up.

Again we are not able to just pull from borrower photos on the site.  There are special releases that have to be gotten.
We will be needing text writers again, please, it is not that much time if we have several volunteers.  Christopher, Kerry, Chris and I put in quite a few hours last year and if we want to continue this project, at least from my perspective we are going to need a bit more involvement!

Will get more info out as soon as I can.

We're seek to obtain a "fresh" set of photos each year. For the 2011 calendar, we selected from photos provided by the 2010 Kiva Fellows. I talked to Chelsa a while ago about it, and the plan is to do the same this year.  The Fellows get the release signed when they take the photo, which is much simpler than tracking down people after the photos have been taken. So this method works logistically; the challenges are getting a good selection and quantity to choose from. I can personally say that I find the quality of photos provided by the Fellows to be very good, it's really just making sure that we get enough of them.
