I'm currently watching Sunderland vs Fulham on the Fox Soccer channel (it's currently half time and not live so please don't spoil it for me by telling me the result!)  Sunderland played the better of the two teams in the first half from what I could see as my daughter constantly whizzed backwards and forwards in front of the television set on her inline skates but it only needs that one lucky break as we all know so well!  What I wanted to share was how bemused I have been watching the advertising boards around the Stadium of Light during the match.  Along with the more expected adverts for Drapers Tools, Barclays Bank, William Hill and Winn Solicitors (who are almost certainly personal injury lawyers - boooo!!!!!), there have been lots of adverts for the Tanzanian Tourist Board ("Visit Tanzania, climb Mount Kilimanjaro!")  I don't know...it just seems rather surreal seeing advertising for the Tanzanian Tourist Board amongst all the more expected advertisers.  And what was I thinking as I watched (other than,
"if Rebecca doesn't stop skating in front of the television set soon I'm going to ground her until she's 18")?  "I must find a Tanzanian loan on Kiva to lend to".  Honestly, talk about a one-track mind!

OK, full time and Sunderland should sooooo have taken that one.  FoxyOxy's mother's famous words of "They couldn't score if the goalie went home!" resound most clearly in her head....  (FoxyOxy admits that more than one cuss-word was uttered during that match which she is just waiting for one of the kids to repeat at school, thus leading to their almost-certain expulsion!)  Benjamin (the youngest) commented: "Why are you supporting Sunwinhan mommy? Are they better than the other team?"  FoxyOxy: "[Waily waily waily!]  Sun-der-land my dear!  Sun-der-land!!!!"

Cheikh from Senegal would appear to be wearing a France shirt.  I would have thought it should be blue not red but the MFI seem to be experiencing a bit of a red saturation problem (either that or they're deliberately presenting their borrower through rose-tinted lenses).  Makes it a bit hard to tell!

Monther from Jordan needs a loan to 'enhance the internal decor' of his shop.  I think the best improvement he could make would be to remove the pictures on the bottom left and right of the wall behind his counter because, other than those, I'd say the decor is pretty darned perfect Wink

The best team of the world and he is right too.

'Real' score in the FIRST minute.  Barça score in the 30th, 53rd and 66th minute.  (Visca Barça!  El millor equip del món - amb l'excepció del Sunderland, és clar!)

Meanwhile, under the new management of Martin O'Neil (goodbye Steve Bruce you ruddy incompetent!), Sunderland beat Blackburn in the 92ND MINUTE!!!!!!

OMG, is life sweet or what?

Judging by the boards behind him, Hamadi's video cafe is the place in Kisauni to go and watch football.

Abdullah's barber shop in Gaza.  Clearly the place to go if you want to look like Lionel Messi!

Okay guys, here's a chap 'wearing the team colors' and he's 1 DAY AWAY FROM EXPIRING!!!!

http://www.kiva.org/lend/375677

Mohammed Ghool runs a taxi business in Palestine.  He is also clearly a fan of Hapoel Tel Aviv.  According to Wikipedia, "A Haaretz poll published on June 2011 identified Hapoel Tel Aviv as the second most popular football team among Israeli Arabs, behind Maccabi Haifa".  THIS GUY CLEARLY NEEDS OUR SUPPORT!!!!
