Hi everybody,
There are a number of partners that you won’t see repayments from today, and I wanted to give you a heads up with some background. Some of this may be information you already know, but some of it may be new to you.
On the 15th of a month, Kiva sends each of our partners a billing statement for borrower repayments for the previous month based on repayments the partner reports as collected. On occasion, we put the billing process on "hold" or "block" the statement from going out on the 15th. Sometimes this is based on Kiva staff's judgment, because we think the partner is accidentally reporting incorrect values, or because there is some particular difficulty the partner is facing with reporting repayments for the previous month. Sometimes, our system automatically "blocks" the partner statement because the amounts reported seem too different from the amounts we expected the partner to report based on the loans' expected schedules. This automatic "blocking" especially tends to be fairly conservative because we want to catch mistakes Kiva or the partner might have made before we bill the partner.
Once a partner billing statement is "blocked," Kiva staff has the responsibility to review the amount of repayments reported by the partner. If there is a problem with the repayments reported by the partner, the appropriate Kiva staff member has to follow up with the partner and work through the issue before re-submitting the report of repayments collected. If there is no problem, the Kiva staff member simply clears the block and allows the statement to be cut. The process of determining whether there is a problem and then helping to correct the problem if one exists can take a non-trivial amount of time.
We don’t have updates to share on all of these partners, but here is the list of partners that have billing on “hold” or “block” today:
Apoyo Integral Aqroinvest Credit Union Bai Tushum & Partners Banco D-MIRO S.A. BRAC Liberia Microfinance Company Limited CREDIT, a partner of World Relief EDESA Faulu Kenya IMON International Juhudi Kilimo (JK) Kenya Agency for Development of Enterprise and Technology (KADET), a partner of World Vision International Local Enterprise Assistance Program (LEAP), a partner of World Hope International and World Relief MCC Mol Bulak Finance LLC Micro Credit for Development and Transformation SACCO (MCDT SACCO) MLO Humo and Partners Nor Horizon Universal Credit Organization Limited Liability Company Ryada, a partner of CHF International SEF International UCO LLC, a partner of World Vision International SMEP Deposit Taking Microfinance Limited Women and Associations for Gain both Economic and Social (WAGES) Womens Development Businesses (WDB) XacBank
Let me know if you have questions about any of this!
Thanks, Ali

Thanks so much for that info, Ali. It really helps to know something about what may cause credit "delays" (recognizing that credits are not officially "due" until the 1st of next month), and why several days of time is needed between when payments are made from borrower to Field Partner, and when they can be "credited" on to lenders. I wonder, whether the above list is a typical number of Field Partners whose billing has been "blocked," or is it an unusually high number this month?

The list is higher than usual this month, which is why I wanted to share it with you all. I'm glad to hear it's helpful!

Just for accuracy sake, the payments are "due" on the last day of the month and thus become delinquent on the 1st of the following month. Because Kiva processes in batches, it states that the funds would then become "available" to lenders on the 1st of the following month. Dan
