Here are two options for a new team logo for team Canada. Please vote on which you prefer by Friday 19 August 2011.

If you have another idea, please upload it below in a message.

The logo will have to look ok at 200 x 200 pixels.

Option 1:

Option 2:

Since the logo needs to look good as a square, wouldn't it be better to pick a logo whose natural shape is closer to a square?

Attaching a few suggestions. (One of the images has a "watermark" in it as it's from a stock photography service.  It would need to be purchased.)

Personally, I think the gold coin with the maple leaf would be very apropos.  To me it conveys the notion that Team Canada is about putting Canadian money to (good!) work.

I still am absolutely stymied why what may have seemed like a logical design decision has continued to plague so many aspects of the Kiva experience.  Why oh why does it NEED to look good as a square?   Cry

Those are nice coins, but they don't circulate. A loonie would probably be better, but we wouldn't want to imply that we're making fun of the US dollar. ;-)

I agree with you Dan.  You can look all over Kiva now and see images that are not square and do not look good and will never look good as long as Kiva forces the variety of pegs into the square holes.  Lots of people will not go out and crop, redesign, or select new images to fit Kiva's square.

Kiva does not provide the image content of the site.  Field partners and lenders provide the content.  I can't imagine why Kiva would presume to crop that content in such a capricious, disrespectful way.

I made these for Canada Day celebrations we were having at school a few years ago. I mentioned to jan & john several weeks ago that one of them might do as a logo... then didn't get around to doing anything about it. Well... here they are now. Basically the same as what Alan did, only with "Team Canada" underneath... fills up the square a bit...

I love the loonie as a cool joke Cheesy, but other teams from countries are using their flag or a symbol of the flag. I like the graphic but it isn't square so it will either be cut off or squeezed into the square shape. I think I will be voting for one of the flag shapes.

Hello everyone. I agree re the comments regarding the loonie as our logo - it's an "in joke" to us but not very informative to others. Our flag is what is recognizable to people in other countries. Might I propose a third option without our new leaders ripping their hair out Smiley?
Team France, team USA and team Australia have all done a unique twist on their "logo":

That said, I am fine with whatever we select.
