John is such a TEASE!!!!  I mean it could be about Kiva, his career or a new baby to be.  Oprah again?  A new program?  Oh, shall we see who can guess it first?

Free pair of Kiva-branded Keen shoes to the first 100 lenders who persuade 25 friends to like Kiva on Facebook and then make at least 10 loans on the site?

Sorry, just sharing what little I know... sounds like there's more to the puzzle.

I'm gearing up for a big announcement next week, so I won't be able to help out with this for now.  Let us know what you find out!

John

My preferences for the 'big announcement':-

1. John has changed his mind and will sign a new 10-year contract with Kiva.
2. FECECAV and LEAP have repaid all their loans.
3. The Portfolio Distribution Active will be introduced on that same day next week.

Hmmm, my favorite ideas wold include:

1.  China is a new country
2.  India is a new country.
3.  Education loans will hit in a big way.
4.  Kiva will loan to US based non-profits.
5.  Small town infrastructure projects in the USA would have loans.
6.  College program had a new program to get things going.

I split off the speculation about John's big announcement next week to this new thread, just in case anyone does in future want to discuss or read about Kiva's 2010 Form 990 without amusing distractions  Laugh

As far as the announcement next week is concerned, my money would be on a new Kiva City, or two or three.  Miami, Columbus, Chicago are in the frame.

Hehe, Colette!

Now that you mention it, my wife is actually seven months pregnant with baby #2. :-)  We just went to a 1920's dressup party, where you can see her dancing here with our son Charlie:

Charlie is getting old!  Hard to believe that he was only a few months old when I started at Kiva.  In retrospect, Charlie's 1920's outfit makes him look a bit like Pinocchio!

This isn't my planned announcement for next week, but baby #2 is going to be a girl!  And then we are going to stop.  Kids are exhausting! :-)

John,

Congrats!

Tell your wife she looks great!  I don't know when the picture was taken, but I see the mother son relationship not a pregnant woman.

Yahoo!  woohoo, John... awesome news... congratulations.

and stopping at 2 is smart, remember, cute babies grow up to be teenagers  Cheesy

but don't worry, they do change back to real people after a while.
