I am wondering.....to help support Joe here with the cost of maintaining his website ....how offensive would ONE small add in a box that said :  (Ad revenue pays for this site),  would that cheapen this place?

ALSO, I wouldn't mind seeing the same on the KIVA.ORG site     IF    the income went directly to support the KIVA Vol's traveling expense.  Volunteers ONLY!

Just my thought for the week, what does the rest of my KIVA family think?

If Joe can cover his expenses with the tip jar, I would rather not see ads here.  I don't think it's cool for a non-profit like Kiva to have ads on their site either.

Smiley Agreed, Richard...... and if an ad were too colorful or distracting, or, especially if it were animated, it would probably stop me from accessing the site so often.  There are certain news web sites on which so many boxes wiggle and blink at me that I no longer use them Embarrassed.

Sorry for the delay in jumping in here. It's been a busy week and I'm just now catching up. About advertising, you'll never see banner ads on here. The space on the server is covered and the tips cover any expansion, bandwidth usage, daily backup service and new features. The excess goes into the forum group account (11 loans so far with #12 coming up soon!)

Even though the activity here is more than I really expected, we're going to be just fine. Smiley After seeing the Kiva Yahoo group, where there would be an occasional discussion then silence for weeks, I wondered if the same would happen here. So thanks again, to all of you, who have really built this place into a very cool community by being so active.  Cheesy

Joe,

I think I mentionned it somewhere before: I truly thank you for this great place in which I was able to find like-minded crazy people!  Kiss
