I've started a new subject (though I promise not to add a critter every day!  Just wanted the non-critter-lovers among us to be able to avoid the subject.  OK, Henry, here's your bug of the day:

well, i've not researched it yet,   but so far I can tell you....

A.   that's not something that should be in someones hand!
B.   It might not be from this planet
C.   If it were any bigger we'd all be in trouble.

I'm thinking it's a baby dragonfly on it's way to maturity....   brb with the answer.

OK, it's no longer in my hand  Shocked .  It takes a while for these guys/gals to pump the juices into their pipes or veins or whatever conduits they have.

if that's what that cute little winged thing grew into that's a shame!   Undecided
P.S.  I've looked for a photo of a skunk with cute eyes....  i'm not so sure that poem's correct! Smiley

Pretty close:  It's a 17-year cicada, Magicicada septendecim.  I think it's handsome, with those red eyes.

Cool photo, Henry, and, no I don't know who it is.  Haven't yet learned more than a few hopping folk, but the relatively short antennae, I think, make Jiminy a grasshopper rather than a cricket..... And, meanwhile, how about this oddball?
