I'd been thinking that for the next Calendar.....
Sorry, you guys, I know it's CRAZY and very possibly maddening to (hear) talk
about the next one before the first one is finished,
or, maybe for a brochure or pamphlet or a page in something,

It might be a neat idea to have "collages" or groupings of smaller
Pictures of People From All Around the World Doing the Same Kind of (or similar) Work

When I was teaching, I liked to take every opportunity I could
to stress the universality of things --
our interconnectedness and similarities with others.

It was my hope that my doing that might serve as an antidote to the prejudice, racism, stressing of "Other" or "Them"
(them not being anything like Us, of course -- certainly not as GOOD as)
I kept seeing and hearing
(and I knew that my kids would keep seeing and hearing)
that nearly daily, almost broke and still breaks my heart).
  ***

And even if it isn't with a "next" Calendar in mind,
since we all love pictures, anyway,
Why not look for neat pictures and group them according to WORK?

Having these threads could make reviewing all the old pictures and watching the new ones as they come in
that much more fun
because now we could have a Purpose or a Reason for paying particular attention to the pictures,
beyond just the pleasure they give us and the mind-expanding some of them invite.

I'm posting a couple this morning.
Others, that I've nearly "finished" for now,
I'll add sometime this weekend.

***
How can any compassionate human being refer to another human being as an Illegal Alien --
as impliedly, someone not human so not even worthy of a moment's reflection or caring?.
And that's not even talking about the nooses and swastikas and posting of the 6 families' addresses on the Internet
in response to the demonstrations in Jena.
Sorry.

                                                                         Not!

Suggestions Related to the Above -
Grouping Pictures By a Type of Work:
Only if enough people think this is worth doing....  Maybe....

-- Have Joe (Diane?) Start a New Unmovable Group -
Subdomain? for Picture-Threads, Organized in Alphabetical Order By Kind of Work
to make it easier for people to find the threads and to add to them.

-- Don't limit your posting to include only
a certain minimum size or super-clear quality of picture.
Go for content and for multicultural inclusion.

I don't know anything about Photo Shop or picture manipulation,
but I'm hoping that KivaFriends with photo-expertise can alter or enhance
some of the pictures, given enough time,
if the decision is made to use them for something besides posting at KivaFriends.

--   When you go to the Kiva Lend Page,
Set Status on "ALL" and Be Creative in the Search Terms You Use
to try to find Entrepreneurs who share a certain type of work.

In other words, don't limit yourselves either to the categories listed under "Sector"
or even to those given for Entrepreneur/Activity for each Borrower.

--  You may have to use several different search words, one right after the other,
to find Borrowers in the same category.

For instance, you'll have to go through a lot of irrelevant ones,
but to add to the thread on Schools and Education, for instance,
you might have to search with the words: desks, classrooms, teachers, school (but there are a million under school), etc.

--  When You're Looking for "Good" Pictures, Pay Attention to the Stories.
I came across some amazing ones I'd have never seen but for my picture-hunt.

If you come across some stories you want to share,
you can post them in the new Stories Thread I started today,
http://www.kivafriends.org/index.php/topic,1087.0.html
or anywhere else that you choose.

I, today, will post a number of Work Picture Threads to get you started.
But some I haven't started, among countless others:

A Butcher Thread?
A Painting and Sculpting Thread?
Cattle and Sheep and Goat Raising Thread?
A Food Production Thread?
The possibilities are almost endless.

When you're starting a new thread, can't you just start it? I get kind of lost in all this explanation!  Smiley
