You Know You're A Kiva Addict, When......

-- You start entitling your e-mails to family and friends,
"Oh God, Not More About Kiva"
in an attempt to make a joke about what you know
is going to be their reaction to your writing, even more, about Kiva

but you just can't help it,
because you absolutely Have To Share
      the story of what
happened to Kiva Entrepreneur, Mark Agwonah, and the
beauty of the Kiva Friends/Kiva Lenders' response

(like, How could anybody be impervious to the incredible story this is ??!)

(and, also like, Maybe with "this story,"
             I'll finally be able to
engage their interest and "snag"  'em).

-- You actually feel proud of yourself, as though it were some
world-bettering accomplishment, when you are able to resist
returning to the Kiva and Kiva Friends websites for several hours
     or more

-- If your family and friends see you coming,
when they immediately stick their fingers in their ears and start humming... or
when they start making the sign of the cross or waving garlic in your path,
and, when you begin to notice that Complete Strangers are crossing over to the other side of the road
when they see you walking down the street....

-- You find yourself up at two o'clock in the morning starting new silly threads for Kiva Friends,
sort of as a "reward" for yourself for having been able to stay away all day up til then....
when any intelligent, at least, well-balanced person would have gone to bed long long ago

You Know You Are A Kiva Addict When....

-- You return to this website, to this thread, after you've just discovered
that Matt Flannery finally posted another update at his blog,
    http://www.socialedge.org/blogs/kiva-chronicles
    to tell everybody that ...
because you know that you'd want to know about the blog, if you didn't, already!
2:27 a.m. and still counting...... Smiley

I was just looking for the Thread related to MOST COUNTRIES PARTICIPATING ON A LOAN  ***
and unexpectedly came across one that Julia had started, much earlier than I'd started this thread
called,

YOU KNOW YOU'RE ADDICTED TO KIVA, WHEN...
http://www.kivafriends.org/index.php/topic,344.0.html

Strange thing is that I had thought that there was already one on this subject
when I started this, but couldn't find it, so then thought that maybe I'd made it up.
So, with this I say apologies to Julia (and everybody else).

If it's worth the time, (questionable....),
maybe Joe can transfer the little that's here and put it in Julia's Original thread.

*** In connection with the thread related to "Most Countries Participating on a Loan,"
or called something like that,
as of right now, there's a Bolivian business posted that has 7 non-U.S. countries
participating with three hundred dollars, plus, still needed....
so I'm hoping people in different countries will spot it and maybe we'll end up with
a record on this, yet.... Smiley

Yes, Jill, I am on that Bolivian cheesemaker loan and am also hoping it will get to 8 countries to tie the standing record!  It's one of my little compulsions to count things, and I find myself checking out the number of distinct countries on a loan without even thinking about it.  Funny we should both notice this one!

It's alreday 9 countries all in all:

USA
Germany
Sweden
GB
Italy
France
Canada
China (Hong Kong)
Australia

 Smiley

And no need for me to hop on...maybe Robert could add Luxembourg to the list???

If we can count someone named "Dietrich" (spelling) as Asian-enough  Smiley to represent Hong Kong,
I think we're up to eight, now.

Ooh, ooh, I hope somebody will put it up to 9!

Just saw your post, Oli.  In our chauvinistic, U.S.-centric game***,
the challenge was to see how many non-U.S. countries would join in.

*** Maybe it's not that we're so U.S.-centric, which, sadly, too many of us, in fact,  are;
Maybe it's just that this is where Kiva originated, so it's just fun to see how many
"international links" we can add to our chain.

It may be 9 *countries*, Oli, but the game is "most NON-US countries", so now that the Hong Kong folks have hopped on, we're up to 8, and still $200+ left to fund.

(Where is that fellow in Antarctica when you need him?!  LOL!)

AND: Why hasn't Quebec seperated from Canada yet...(oooops, sensitive topic, I know!)
