I gave my first $25 loan yesterday! Wow- I think this is an amazing organization! I can feel kind of a draw to drum up more money to give out more loans! Uh, Kiva addiction?! Haha! What a great community! I can't wait to learn what other ways I can help.

I made my first 3 loans on Tuesday, Sept. 4th, after watching Oprah's show. I made another on behalf of my wife the following day & 2 more to-day.

It felt good. Thumbs Up Dance

And on the day when your first loan repays fully... and the couple-few days later when you see that first Kiva Credit....

WOW !   Smiley

Welcome, Jundee.  And everyone else who has joined this great movement.

Welcome Jundee!  I guess there is no need to warn you about acquiring a Kiva addiction as it already sounds as though you are 'hooked.'  Shocked Welcome to the world of Kivans.  Smiley

Oh, you're so right.

I'm going to hand in my resignation to the forum I've been moderating because I can't to justice to doing both.

Besides, when I take on a project I do it 150% & I think I can do more good here.

Jundee, you don't need to worry about moderating this forum, we've got that part covered!  Cheesy

Just post away, like the rest of us crazies!

I didn't mean to imply that I was interested in moderating this forum or any other for that matter.

What I meant was that when I take on a project that I'm interested in & that I care about, I treat it like a fulltime job. That's what i've done for the last 3 years. Since I'm retired, I have the time to do that.

Besides lending to entrepeneurs, which will be limited to some extend by my financial situation which, as a pensioner, is moderate. So signing up for a loan wouldn't involve that much time. I'm planning to work on ways & means to spread the word about KIVA since I have had considerable experience in sales promotion, merchandising, marketing & advertising.

Here are some links you can check that'll give you some idea of what I've been involved in.

www.mikeholmesfanforum.com  This is the opening page. You cannot read or post without registering & I can't copy & paste from the forum after logging in except within the forum. Some blocking has been installed.

  http://www.holmesonhomes.com/index.php

http://www.holmesonhomes.com/mike_holmes.php

http://www.hgtv.ca/ontv/titledetails.aspx?titleid=84265

When the HolmesonHome show started, their website had a forum of which I was the first moderator. That site crashed about a 1-1/2 years later because of inadequate security & back-up. They developed a new site a year later.

The Fan Forum was started about 2-1/2 years ago while the Holmes site was down. By the time their new site was ready, we had several thousand members so it seemed logical for Holmes to include it on their site instead of developing their own.

The basic purpose of the forum is to provide help & advice to homeowners & DIY types  as well as to inform members of Mike's activities.

We have a great many professionals from various trades among the membership & judging by the comments we receive & the rapid growth of the forum to 16 400 & growing by an average of 500 every month we've done pretty well.

We now have 6 moderators & I think the forum can do very well without me & after over 3 years, It's time to get involved in a new project.

It's after 3am Sat. morning & I'm still working on KIVA.

I got to get a life.

Still no new entrepeneurs available.

Man, this virus is worse than West Nile...

I was planning to hit the sack after my 3am post & finally made it at 4:30. Woke up at 6am for a pit stop & said to myself "I'll just have a quick look! Roll Eyes

By 8am I couldn't focus my eyes anymore & it was back to bed. 3 hours later I was up again & after 2 coffee's it was back to checking out the "In Need" page.  I had sworn I was going to stop to give others a chance but when I saw the one from Viet Nam I had to have it since I lost out on several yesterday.

But now I have to tear myself away & give notice to the Admin of the forum I've been moderating. It wouldn't be fair for me to stay on knowing that I would neglect my duties there because I'm in the grip of the KIVA super bug.  Embarrassed

Btw, this is a very funny thread  Thumbs Up

An hour ago the wife showed me a flyer from Friday (I haven't looked at a paper since then) for a local store offering Taster's Choice coffe for  $ 2.95, 5 bucks less than the usual price of 7.95. I was doubtful that there would be any left at that price.

We jumped in the car & hustled over & there were about 20 jugs left on a top shelf. We grabbed a dozen & saved 60 bucks on a years's supply.

When we got back my wife said:"60 bucks..... that's enough for two more loans."

Ohmegod, I've infected the woman.

It's gonna be a long trip from Alabama to Ontario. It would cost you more for gas than you would save on he coffee.

it was the local "No Frills" store. I don't think you have those in the States.

I made sure not buy anything else because I'm sure they jacked up every other item in the store.  Yahoo!
