I was surfing around the other day and noticed that Kiva has a listing on change.org, which is kind of like a MySpace for non-profits.

http://www.change.org/nonprofit_page/nonprofit_home/16338

However it looked pretty bare, so I signed up for an admin account and uploaded a bunch of videos, pictures, actions, etc.

If you've got a minute, please sign up there and join the Kiva group. It has 41 supporters so far, but I know we can do better. I'd like to see Kiva on the Most Popular list (which shouldn't be too hard with about 60-100 more people).

While you're there, you can also network and keep up with your other favorite non-profits and causes. It really is a neat site.

Okee-dokey.  I signed up.   Looks like another info-packed site that will suck up any time I am willing to give it!

I'll poke around when I have the time (when I can drag myself off Kiva Friends, that is).  I don't know diddly about social networking sites - if I am going to learn about 'em, it might was well be for a good cause.

Safe travels,
Laurie

I'm shooting for page one of overall. Should be able to do it and stay there with about 80 more people [hint hint]. Thanks to everyone that has joined in.

Kiva is #7 on Page 1 of Change.org

Does anyone know what determines the order of the non profit organizations on this website?

There's "Recently Popular" (Kiva was #3 on page 1 when I looked!) and "Most Popular" (#4 on page 2 right now!).  "Most Popular" is based on the number of "supporters."  I assume "Recently Popular" is based on recently joined number of supporters.  For some reason, quite a few folks have started supporting Kiva there lately.  Tongue Cheesy Wink

Currently #1 on recently popular, and on page 2 of most popular non-profits.

And in the change.org weekly newsletter, which I presume goes out to everyone on the site, Kiva is the top reviewed non-profit.

So the march to get Kiva near the top of Change continues. By the way, the owner of the network and the community manager both support Kiva.

I can see why that might be irksome.... although as a Silicon Valley resident, it don't bother *me* none   Cheesy

Anyway, the title of the thread is the title of the article linked in the first post, which came from the San Jose Mercury News, which is... the daily newspaper of Silicon Valley.  (Hence their catchy title, meant to appeal to their readers.)

Those of us in the Valley love sharing the sharing of wealth with all the rest of y'all.  Smiley
