What if you were one of your borrowers? What sort of business would you create to provide for your family and community?  I'm curious as to what people would do if the roles were reversed. Would you raise cattle? Sell clothing or tailor it? Would you be a grocery store owner? If so, why?

I'll kick this one off...

I'd be an auto mechanic since some of the outlaying areas can only be accessed by trucks and cars either because of terrain or distances from larger cities, etc. I believe the auto mechanic has a huge importance in some of the villages we hear about when it comes to food deliveries and expansion of opportunity from supplies in general getting in and out. If a truck full of harvested fruit for sale at the market 50 miles away can't get there, then the villagers may not be able to buy livestock or grain for the livestock, etc. So the mechanic is the true supply chain manager in these regions. I'm a nerd at heart, so tinkering with things would be my passion and this would be something I would focus on for my family's sustainability and future.

I'd be a store-owner. Although this is hard life (and long hours), it'd put me in contact with my neighbors and give me lots of social interaction.

The main problem answering this question is, that if I'd know all I know now, I'd definitely not be a store owner, but go into some kind of business that gets me rich quicker. Start a construction company or something. It's all about being entrepreneurial and building out your business...

Ah... didn't I just contradict myself?
