Something is going on in Iceland. When I was just sneak-lurking here  Embarrassed before being registered, there was only Ari the violonist, but this week several Icelanders registered with Kiva and make heavy lending.  I found a few loans with 2 Icelanders, and here are 3 from Iceland. The word is spreading!

Robert,

I wonder why you, from an also somewhat "insular" grand-duchy, don't achieve something similar!!?? If the Icelanders can spread the word across their island, you should be able to do it, too!  Wink

By the way: I noticed you have "European Union" now under your lending name (which changed also)...I know we are citizens of Europe and I am a proud one, but I simply prefer the notion of European states...so why not leave Lėtzebuerg? I am very fond of your home!

You looked at all the borrowers looking for Icelandic lenders? Or is there a quicker way to do that?

Oli, I can't convince all my fellow citizens, there are just too many of them, nearly twice as many as Icelanders.

Regarding the country's name: I'm an advocate of a close union. And regarding my own one: until the solution of the debt forgiveness issue by Kiva, this is a joint undertaking, so that there will always be a survivor (Henry's suggestion).

Dottie B

I had a feeling that there are several such loans, so I started from an Icelander's lender page.

Dottie and Anybody Else Who Wants to Know " HOW TO FIND ALL THE LENDERS FROM A PARTICULAR PLACE OR IN A PARTICULAR GROUP"

Dottie had asked how a person could find "lenders from Iceland."

This has worked (too) well for me:

If you haven't already found enough ways to dillydally around KivaLand....

1-- Go to Google
2-- In the search area, type in the following:
       site:kiva.org/lender/                    Hit "return" or "enter"

That will take you to one of the two following.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Akiva.org%2Flender%2F+&btnG=Google+Search

                        or

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Akiva.org%2Flender%2F+++++++++++++++++++++&btnG=Google+Search

That page will have                   site:kiva.org/lender/
in the search rectangle.

Bookmark or Mark as Favorite that page as you will be able to use it for a million things.

b) After the diagonal following the word, "lender,"
hit space bar once, then add            +Iceland
       and hit "search."

When I did it, it got me 13 lenders from Iceland.
I don't know if that's all there are or not.

After that search, just for totally fooling around,

Instead of putting:   a space, then             +Iceland
     after         site:kiva.org/lender/

      you can put:   +Poulsbo       or   +"truck driver"       or   +teacher        or  +justice      or    +peace          or  +military  or     +scientist
 +farmer         or     +Dubai         or   +almost anything

to find whatever collection you want to find of Kiva lenders
and to stay with Kiva-related things, forever.

Also, FYI:     As the threads proliferate and as it becomes harder and harder to find things,
I only recently noticed  the little "spotlight" feature near the top of the Forum page.
It has a search area next to it,
and to me, the spotlight looks like a magnifying glass.
It's incredibly helpful.                           Thanks again, Joe.

I'd seen this query from Dottie, sometime earlier this morning, but when I came back to try to answer it,
I must have read through 7 or 8 threads and still couldn't find it.
Then I did what I should have done, first.  I went to the Spotlight space, typed in the key word, "Iceland,"
and I found this thread and the right location in the thread, immediately.

-- I was getting so frustrated trying to remember where I'd seen a message. I have used that searc feature to good advantage, and often when I know the message was recent, I skim through the "Recent Messages." Matter of fact, I've been doing most of my forum reading from the Recent Messages in the last few days. That way I don't miss any thing!

And thanks for that search formula, Jill! I can't begin to imagine how you figured it out!
