This reminds me of something....

When Terry Fox started his run to fight cancer his aim was to raise a dollar for every canadian about 20 million at the time)

A year after his death, when the first Terry Fox Run was organized & publicized, some journalist predicted that nobody would know or care about him in a few years.

Was that guy ever wrong.

Since then over 300 million dollars have been raised & every September there are over 4000 runs around the world.

I still have the certificate I received in the first run (a bit yellowed now) for raising over 1000 dollars & for finishing the 10 km run even though I was the last of 70 people & had the worlds biggest charley horse the next day.

Why am I telling this?

To illustrate what can happen when somebody has a great idea the determination & tenacity to get it started & attract like minded people. Ther will be bumps along the way but they will be overcome.

Can you imagine what KIVA will look like five years from now? I'll still be there if I live that long.

Hey Jundee, I live in Wheatfield, near the falls on the american side and we receive the canadian stations...anyways,,,,just an hour or two ago i watched a portion of the special on terry fox, though id seen it before, and the amount he has raised with his name through the races worldwide is incredible for cancer research.

I find not direction in the readings of those with whom my eccentricities are similar, but rather validation.

My only solace is that I find a peaceful place where I might be resigned to my depriving loneliness.

"8455 new users and nearly $300 000.00 raised in two days."

How amazing!

I'm so proud to be connected to people who are willing to forego the joy they get from lending long enough to allow new lenders to do so. It's a great and thoughtful idea and it shows the level of heart to be found here.

And to whomever thought to start these message boards -- thank you. It's a pleasure to hear from other lenders.

Steve, though I had seen it before, I watched it again.

I remember when he arrived in Toronto on his way to City Hall, he came down Avenue Road, a major
three lane throughfare with a large divider in the centre with trees & planters, past the US consulate.

All the cars stopped in all lanes, people got out of their cars and applauded. It was a moment I'll never forget.
