What about billboards?  Does anyone know what it costs in certain areas, even have an idea, to raise a billboard for a few weeks?  Im sure it varies, but perhaps if the amount is fair enough the funds could be raised here at kivafriends and a billboard graphic developed.  We could send it all to Kiva with pics and theyd be quite impressed I think, not to mention it would bring lots of awareness.  I live near Niagara Falls where we see 8 million tourists per year.  Its not the most populous area by any means but very diverse with people from all over the country and the world as you can imagine, and things here are cheap, especially the standard of living and advertising generally speaking.

This would be the place to inquire: http://www.clearchanneloutdoor.com/products/bulletin.htm

Naturally, they don't post prices on the site.

I can't imagine that it's extremely expensive, as I noticed that the Quakers (not the oatmeal people) recently bought some billboard space in my area.  There might be a discount for not-for-profit groups.

I found some wide ranging estimates for billboards on a monthly basis....ranging from $700-2500.  I would imagine the more expensive side of things would be based on population, location, and competition for billboard space.  Id imagine some billboards in my local area, Wheatfield NY, which sees a lot of traffic on the way to Niagara Falls but only has a population of about 15k, would fall about in the middle of that price range.  Thats a bit expensive for a couple people, but perhaps it can be a project some day where people can do some quick fundraising in their neighborhoods.  25 people collecting a mere $50 each would just about cover it.  Makes it seem more feasible that way.  Maybe after the calendar thing, sometime next year, late winter, when everyones bored and eager to do something again to promote Kiva to the masses.

By the way I searched for billboards online and this post came up 8th in line on google.  Thought that was pretty cool.  At least we know Kiva is out there, everywhere.
