Welcome Bastet - and I too think that housing is basic to a family life...

I joined the team and credited my first housing loan...

Hi!

My name is Anita and I am 28 years old. I just discovered this forum and decided to participate to discuss various Kiva subjects and Kiva experiences. Googling for some information about microfinance I discovered Kiva. At the beginning I was not really sure whether to donate or not as I am really cautious with such things. But a friend of mine has shared his experience, that he visited one of his entrepreneurs without Kiva knowing about it, that he found that woman and that she really received her loan and was very happy with it. This was the moment I decided to join and I do not regret it by now.

 Hat Wave howdy Anita...

Thanks for stopping in, we're glad to meet you.

Hope you find new friends and help us find answers to our questions.

Of course, you do realize, it's an addiction that we are all struggling with...  Cheesy

Welcome, Anita! Welcome (I'm always a little late on this site)
I, too, have visited borrowers (in Uganda, with Kiva staff's knowledge and help).  It was a wonderful experience.  Hope you join in chats if we can get anyone in there anymore. Wink

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your welcoming words! Yes, I indeed realized that it is an addiction. I mean, what are 25$ to me? I spent it many many times in things I do not really need, in clothes I never wore, so it's  much better to lend it to someone who really needs it. But to channel it a bit I bought the Kiva-Piggybank Smiley If there's money enough inside to make a new loan I do so. Thent it is a win-win situation. But I think I do not have to explain such basic things to an experienced member as you are.

Welcome Anita, we're happy you joined us here.  I also have a Kiva piggy bank, I put it on my desk at work and when I have coins in change from buying my coffee in the cafeteria, they go into the bank toward a loan, so I understand completely!  (Having the bank on my desk at work also gives me a chance to tell others about Kiva, and sometimes they come by and put their coins in also.)
