Hi Jan!!  Well, believe it or not I have yet to take the trip.  I won the trip to Guatemala about a year ago and mentioned to them I wouldnt have adequate vacation time until just less than a year from then.  I should be taking it right after the holidays--early next year...Ill post pictures and if there are any Kiva loans anyone has around Guatemala city let me know and maybe I can arrange some sort of update on that particular loan.  Thanks for asking  Wink

Well, I dont know where I was really, come to think of it--I must have been lost and just kind of found myself--I just re-appeared and I guess by natural instinct I made my way back....

honestly, I felt I was spending far too much time on the forum and I started day trading just before the turn of the year so that was consuming me for hours each day--Ive tamed that craving somewhat and with work days much shorter at this time of year, I wanted to spend a bit of my free time back on the forum and getting back into Kiva mode.  There's so many great people here and love it or hate it, its a family atmosphere thats hard to resist.  Trust me, I thought of Kiva Friends often in my absence and had a few friends keeping me up to date now and then...its a comforting place and mentally, I was never as far away as you think.  Wink

As far as Kiva, I was also planning on withdrawing my final $1000 from Kiva as it felt commonplace to do so in the same fashion as I did with the rest of my funds--habitual I guess--before I did I thought to myself, why???  why not reloan, why not continue helping others in this fashion?  I was turned off some after 15 defaults, but I had 400+ loans, so the % wasnt all that bad--and as I thought of the funds I lost, some $170 or so, I wasnt going to miss it in the least and I felt it was a small price to pay to remain involved.

I hope I am posting in the right place.

My name is Fred and I am new to kiva.  I am very excited to getting know some of you through your post.
Most of all I am excited to have the opportunity to help others reach their dreams in business and providing a better life for their families.  I myself am a business owner in the mid-south region of the US.  I own an event rental company that services public schools, universities, churches and corporate events.  I hope to become more educated about kiva and use my influence to introduce others to the kiva opportunity.  I look forward to watching the progress of the loans we make being inspired by the many stories of success made possible by kiva lenders.

I would be interested in communicating with anyone in central Arkansas about their kiva experience.

Thanks
Fred
