I did a google search on Kiva, and there have been a number of articles about Kiva--lots about the gift card option.  By the way, there was $500k or so of gift cards sold in the last week.  This will mean lots of new lenders after the holidays.  The Field Partners will be on holiday toward the end of the month, and remaining new loans posted today and still available is about 230 plus a drop of 500.  The number of loans with $100 or less remaining is going up.  The loans I made days ago are getting funds added at a quicker rate.  I don't think expiring loans will be the problem.

You may well be right, Colette. I was very sceptical as the loans mounted up so quickly, but, given the  speed the number is falling, it seems that maybe Kiva guessed right. The fall from 6,000 to 5,000 was amazing, especially for nearly a week after the 15th and, mostly, on a Tuesday - a working day, when most people have other things to do than Kiva.
