I think the calendar idea is fantastic, Jill. What if, say, in Novemver, Kiva sold calendars, for $300, a calendar that would INCLUDE a credit for each month. You could buy them to give out as holiday gifts, and the recipient could use a certificate to loan each month. When it's time for the calendar to be replaced, loans would start to be repaid, keeping people in the cycle.
The only thing is $300 seems like a lot, assuming you'd have to do $25 X 12 months..do you think anyone would buy it? That way, you could almost even do it online. Rather than printing out one gift certificate, you could print out a 12 month calendar w/ a gift cert for each month...you could even pick an choose your own faces..smiles or not.
