Carol, I 'm hoping for this, too - posted it to "Suggestions" awhile ago: http://www.kivafriends.org/index.php/topic,474.0.htmlAdds a little more fun to the gift for the giver. Glenda, I agree on the matter of how much people lend, but linking from the gift certificate "redemption" to the lender page won't reveal anymore than is already available to anyone looking at lender pages. Just an easier way for the gift giver to connect with the recipient (who we hope becomes a dedicated lender). Safe travels, Laurie

WFGlenda - I suspect that's what carol was asking for. A link to that persons lender page. I love lender pages! I'm jealous of a few! and lender maps, i'm getting some really strong mapenvy lately. I like lender pages especially when someone in here post something I need to think about, I look at their lender page to see if they are real, invested, etc. When I give out my gifts this Christmas, I would definately want to see my family's participation. But I can ask them for the lender page, but not anyone else I guess.

The way that I read Carol's post was that she merely wanted to know if her Gift Certificate recipients got "hooked" --
not how much anybody spent but whether her people went on to lend some of their own money???
I read it to mean that she wanted to know what I've been curious to know, myself (but didn't want to specifically ask some of my people),
Whether, after they were introduced to Kiva via the gift certificates we gave them, (we want to know)
if we were successful in our recruiting efforts to create a Kiva Addict-in-the-Making (at least, a Repeat Lender).
I thought of the privacy aspect, too, but our gift certificate recipients can select "Anonymous" when they register so as to remain anonymous to anybody else who visits the Kiva website.
I'm not sure it would be too invasive, since they were our friends, family, g.c. recipients in the first place, if there were some means by which we, the G.C. givers, could follow their journey. If it's feasible, maybe we could have a link to our Gift Certificate recipients' Lender pages on our Portfolio pages (which are private -- except to us) next to the G.C. number and the name of the Recipient once that person has redeemed the certificate.
Anyway, don't you think it's kind of fun looking at the different entrepreneurs that different Lenders choose (especially the ones we know) ??
It's sort of like looking at the titles of books in their libraries or the kind of music they have in their music selection.
(An Irrelevant Aside--- Note for Bug Lady, W.L. Glenda: There's a wonderful kids' book called "Insects Are My Life," by Megan McDonald that your own library probably has to have)

Thanks Jill for clearing that up. I have not asked past gift certificate recipiants to share who they lend to but have started with the last 5, however felt it out of place with some, our local newspaper editor for example. I would like to know how much we can influence people to get involved.
Imagine if you could get 10,000 Kiva supporters to send out 5 gift certicates each and 50,000 more lenders came on board that lend $100.00 = $5,000,000.00. Imagine what could happen in a year. I will keep trying to get the world involved $25.00 at a time. One of you statistics guys can run with this. Pyrimid giving...
Thank you all for your interest in this topic. Carol

I heard back from Dan Millman this morning. He's going to look into various options at his "earliest free moment" on how to use his Kiva gift certificate. I'll keep you posted when I find out how he used it.

Send one to Donald Trump.
He reported that he got a check for $1.00 and he still cashed it. I'm pretty sure he would cash/use a $25-$50 Kiva certificate.
Good luck with finding his address, not sure where you should start.
