She is a 31-year-old widow with 3 children. Her kids are too young to work - the eldest is 12 and the youngest is 4 years old. She has been supporting the family, with some help from her brother, by selling cattle.

She now wants to expand her business by getting into the field of processing dairy products, which she will sell at local markets. She is seeking a loan of 1,000 US dollars to buy a separator.

She has six children. Her husband builds houses, and she makes a living working for others. She will use her loan to buy a small wood shaving machine to support her husband’s business.  {The "wood shaving machine" may be a planer - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plane_%28tool%29 }

He has owned and run a small factory in a district of town, in which he crushes different foods (peanuts, corn, cassava, condiments), for 18 years. He is requesting this loan in order to strengthen his production capacity by buying a new crushing machine. This should allow him to increase his sales price and his profits, and satisfy his customers.

He is 27 and a bricklayer.  He wishes to buy an electric drill and an electrical [brick] cutting-machine. This will augment his productivity and improve their family income.

He is using his credit to rent a workshop and purchase a joiner’s bench for processing laminate flooring and wood.  He has previous experience working as an artisan with this kind of materials.  He believes demand for laminate flooring is on the rise in his area.

She makes mop strands from cotton, which she sells to a company that assembles the finished mops.  Her goal is to increase production, but she doesn't have the equipment that would allow her to make the product in less time. Working capital is another big challenge, because she is not able to buy cotton in large enough amounts to obtain discounts when buying the raw material.

She is currently requesting a Kiva loan that will be her first financing through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use it to purchase a machine and cotton material, in order to include a new line of mop strands to increase her profits.
