Kanlé Kouevi – School – Togo

This is a a journal photo of one of my people from Ebony Foundation, Mercy Wairimu Njogu.  Her original Entrepreneur picture with her beautiful kids was the first one I posted on this thread.  I have no way of knowing whether she and the kids are okay or not, after all the rampaging and rioting in Kenya.  I never will understand the “why” of things like this, and if anyone has any answers for me, I’d sure as h--- like to hear some.
May her name be their destiny.

Oh Jill...The picture of Mercy and her children made me cry.  Cry  They look so happy in the picture and to think that they may be experiencing such turmoil really makes me sad.  I pray that they are okay.

Those were beautiful Jill, thanks for sharing...makes me wonder what it would require to take the initiative to build a school or sponsor a build.  Then again, how disastrous to possibly witness its destruction and the hard work that has been invested into these children.  At what point do people simply lose that genuinely hopefuly and carefree smile depicted across the precious faces of all those children?  Hopefully all is well with them and if you hear anything be sure to let us know.

Nothing you all don’t already know about, you guys.  Just thought I’d add these sweeties to this thread to further adorn it and to make it that much more fun for newcomers to see all these giant smiles, together.

Name: Ivonne Pérez
Business Name:  Bar Manitos Cariñosas
Location:  Guayaquil, Ecuador
Primary Activity:  School
Loan Requested:  $1,200.00
Repayment Term:  10 months - repaid monthly
Loan Use:  To expand one of the classrooms in her school
Previous Profile:  Ivonne Pérez #1

Investment of First Loan: Señora Ivonne invested her first loan in the adaptation of the bars of her facility, which services the needs of the children of the school. This in fact has given the parents of her students a greater sense of security in continuing to send their children to be educated. They see the improvements and adaptations that Señora Ivonne makes so that her school advances and gives adequate attention to her clients that in this case are the children of the sector.

Development of Business: She has achieved a good reputation in that the parents of the families speak very well of her facility to the neighbors of the sector and this has resulted in more children entering to be able to be educated in this place.

Personal information: The Lady Ivonne is happy with the development of her school and also because the neighbors trust in her educational facility.

Use of Second Loan: She wants to continue investing in her school since, with the growth that she has had, ultimately she needs to expand one of her classrooms in order to give better service each day.

Excerpt from KIVA profile:  Mrs. Rosa runs a school which she started three years ago. Currently she teaches 150 low income children in her area. She has five other teachers helping her educate the local children.  She needs the loan to make her school more adequate and thus be able to take better care of her students and increase her income.

Excerpt from KIVA entrepreneur profile: At first, there were a lot of obstacles: lack of capital, lack of material and especially the paperwork procedure from the Education Ministry was lengthy and complicated. It also took a lot of effort and time to attend "child care education" classes to obtain the permit. After a few years of hard work and dedication, everything was set in place. She gained trust and support from everyone including the Education Ministry and her customers. Her husband is very supportive, everyday he goes to the market to buy grocery to prepare food for the kids. The child care center is quite neat, there are 5 classes under the supervision of 5 teachers specialized in young children education. There are about 100 kids attending the child care center.
