It doesn't show up when you hit the Education button, but check out one of the women in the Ntinda East b Group from Uganda: "Aisha Bako is currently operating a business running a school and wants a loan to construct more classrooms and buildings. " http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=35963Only 7 days left, and $400 to go.

I would like to put in a plug for this entrepreneur: http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=51967 Rosa Idalia is requesting her eighth loan that she will invest in improvements in her house. She is adding a new room. She is a teacher of Middle School at the Institute Rubén Darío. She has two children: the oldest is 18 years old and he is studying his fifth year of middle school and a 14-year-old younger daughter who studies 2nd year in the Institute Rubén Darío. In spite that she is single, she is a very responsible and a model mother with her children. Mrs. Rosa Idalia is very thankful with AFODENIC since with all the loan granted by the institution she has been able to improve little by little her house. At present she is studying a Bachelor’s Degree at the URACCAN University. Her dream is to be a working professional with a lot of experience, she wants to have labor stability and have a house with all the conditions so her two children can keep on studying. It is a 24 month home improvement loan, but please note that Rosa is a student and a teacher who is working and going to school herself as well as supporting her teenagers in their education. Some of you may note that I am not on this loan in my usual guise, but I have finally found the perfect loan to open an account in memory of my mother, Rose. -Kerry-

"Our daughters can contribute just as much to society as our sons, and our common prosperity will be advanced by allowing all humanity - men and women - to reach their full potential. I do not believe that women must make the same choices as men in order to be equal, and I respect those women who choose to live their lives in traditional roles. But it should be their choice. That is why the United States will partner with any Muslim-majority country to support expanded literacy for girls, and to help young women pursue employment through micro-financing that helps people live their dreams." - President Barack Obama, June 4, 2009

I wonder why the "Activity" is listed as utilities? That certainly throws us off the track.
I used to use the "activity" to search for loans but the mislabeling is significant.

I wondered that as well. I was thinking that perhaps it is a mistranslation of something like "personal use". I think I will email Kiva for clarification. Thanks for pointing this out. I had noticed when my family first started discussing this loan, but then had forgotten about it in the excitement of finally agreeing upon a loan to fund. -Kerry-

I was also perplexed what utilities meant. I wondered if it meant they were putting in wiring for electricity at the time. Utilities is utilidades in spanish. Use is uso. Useful is u'til. Now that was just useless (inu'til). Sorry, I am too lazy, perezosa, to figure out how to do accents on this keyboard and software. Colette

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=70868&_tpos=5&_tpg=1 Mingboi Fozilov has a very big family -- 8 kids. He loves kids very much (maybe that is why he has so many kids). He is a high school teacher, but his teacher's salary isn't enough to feed such a big family. That's why he started his business of selling rice at the market. First, he started with a small amount of money. Now he has analyzed that with more money he could have more profit out of his business. So he wants to borrow money to expand his business and better support his family. 6 months loan from IMON (Tajikistan) 175 $ left to fund
