Soooooo..... If I said the term, "Team Lending," what would it mean to you? What it makes me think of is the Seti@Home project in which participants can set their computer's screen saver to crunch numbers that are used in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). Participants can group up together into Teams and the total amount of data crunched by each team is computed and teams are ranked accordingly. I'm on the SETI Burning Man Team, for example. So, for me, it would somehow be Teams of lenders on Kiva... One obvious team would be the KivaFriends team. But with it comes the concept of rankings by some measure of participation.... or maybe not, maybe just stats per team. Anyway, I ask because... It is coming to Kiva. I don't know when, but I think it's being tested now. -Scott p.s. Just thought I'd throw in the link to Seti@Home too... http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/

Maybe it's late, Scott, but I still don't get it.

I have no interest in "competing" with anyone else or any other team in any aspect of lending.
Talk about commoditizing the process...

Nor do I care to engage in Group Think in determining my loans.

Just a note about competing... I am very likely WAY OFF THE MARK in suggesting the concept of 'competing'. I think it would be better to think of it more like how we participate together in funding loans... We are a team here in some kind of sense of the word. I just don't want anyone to think I am saying that Kiva is setting up any kind of loan competition. Nor do I care to engage in Group Think in determining my loans.
No, no, not at all. I would suggest that it is an 'everyone determines their own loans' type of thing not something like the team decides to do a particular loan. But come to think of it, aren't there group lenders already on Kiva sharing a single account. I wouldn't denounce what they are doing as something as simple as 'Group Think'. -Scott

Guess I'll just wait to see what this means, rather than decide anything before I know any facts.

Was thinking about my team computing example of Seti@Home that I used... Now I am wondering if it isn't such a great example, although I cannot think of another team computing example that's much different at the moment...
Anyway, my example may be way off as well. For all I know, "Team Lending" may simply be a term used for an upcoming site feature that would allow group lender participants to each have their own individual accounts, with separate email addresses, separate passwords, separate security, and separate privacy yet allowing them to participate as a group...
I really don't know anything more than the phrase, "Team Lending".

Well Scott, if we don't know, we don't know. Why don't we just ask, then?

Well Scott, if we don't know, we don't know. Why don't we just ask, then? I guess I blew this posting... I didn't think anyone here knew anymore than I did, but rather, I was just looking for any thoughts on the concept of Team Lending and what it might mean. I think Kiva operates like any tech company here and probably doesn't really release info about upcoming site features until they are good and ready. -Scott

Ohhhh, alright, sorry, Scott, it took me a while to get it (or at least I think I got it), you have some "inside information" about a new feature to come and were merely asking if we could guess what it is all about?! At first (not having read your post very well, it appears - but then it WAS late here), I thought it was a kind of suggestion by you. Maybe it's (just) something like this: http://www.kivafriends.org/index.php/topic,2092.0.html ? Well, I don't know. Wouldn't seem to be such a big improvement to me - and I most definitely would not want to "compete" against anyone else here, either. Best wishes, Wolfgang.
